What data NamasteBG collects, why, and the rights you have over it under the GDPR.

NamasteBG is built to be useful without spying on you. We run no display ads, we sell no profiles, and we collect as little as possible. This page explains what we do handle and the choices you have.

This is a plain-language summary, not formal legal advice. If you have a specific concern about your data, contact us and we'll answer directly.

Who we are

NamasteBG ("we", "us") is an independent resource for foreigners living in or moving to Bulgaria, run from Plovdiv. For any privacy question, email hello@namastebg.com.

What we collect

Analytics — no cookies, no personal data. We use a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool (Umami) that records aggregate page views and referrers. It does not set cookies, does not fingerprint you, and cannot identify you.
The contact form. When you message us, we receive the name, email, and text you submit — only so we can reply.
The BulgarIA assistant. When you ask the chat or document explainer a question, your message is sent to our AI provider (Cloudflare Workers AI) to generate an answer. Don't paste sensitive personal documents into it.
Abuse protection. To stop spam and stay within free usage limits, we keep a short-lived per-visitor request counter. It is not used to identify you and expires automatically.

We do not collect names, accounts, or location beyond the above. There is no login and no advertising tracker.

Why we're allowed to (legal basis)

Under the GDPR we rely on our legitimate interest in running a working, abuse-free site for analytics and rate limiting, and on your consent — given by sending the form or using the assistant — for the contact and AI features.

We use a small number of processors purely to run the site:

Resend — delivers contact-form messages to our inbox.
Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and the AI model behind the BulgarIA assistant (your questions).
Umami — cookieless analytics.

Live-data widgets (weather, exchange rates, holidays) call public APIs and never send them anything about you. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Analytics are aggregate and not tied to you. The abuse-protection counter expires within days.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold, or object to our processing of it. Email hello@namastebg.com and we'll action it. You also have the right to complain to the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP).

Changes

If this policy changes materially we'll update the date above. Continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
