Where to browse apartments in Bulgaria
A curated list of the portals expats actually use to find a flat — with honest notes on each. We link out rather than scrape listings (portal ToS and GDPR make scraping the wrong bet).
imot.bg Recommended
Largest portal — the default place owners actually list.
Language: Bulgarian (browser-translate friendly)
The widest choice. Sort by newest — the good flats go in days.
imoti.net Recommended
Strong second, especially outside Sofia.
Language: Bulgarian
Similar inventory to imot.bg; worth checking both for the same flat.
Nestoria Bulgaria
Aggregator of portal listings in one search.
Language: Bulgarian / English UI
Handy for a single search across portals, but always verify on the original listing.
HomeZone
More curated, agency-quality listings.
Language: Bulgarian / English
A bit more expensive than private lets, but often smoother for foreigners.
Facebook housing groups
Expat groups: 'Expats in Sofia', 'Digital Nomads Sofia' etc.
Language: English
Where sublets, room-shares and short-term deals actually happen. Beware advance-payment scams — never pay before viewing.
Relocation agencies
Full-service agencies (Bulgarian Properties, Arco, Momex).
Language: English
You'll pay more, but they handle the paperwork and usually speak English — good for a first move.
Before you pay anything
- Never send a deposit before seeing the flat in person (or on video).
- If the price is dramatically below market, it's a scam — walk away.
- Always sign a written lease and photograph everything on move-in day.
